Watersprite Lake - A trail of variety
If you love a trail that is dry, rocky, muddy and snowy at different points, don't miss this lake!
Distance: 18km round trip
Elevation gain: 660m
Highpoint: 1,465m
Estimated hiking time: 3.5 hours up, 3 hours down.
Trip: 7AM - 8PM
Hiking option: Day hike or camp overnight at the hut or in a tent
We headed to the trail head via Highway 99.
Turning right from Highway 99, we followed a logging road for another hour to arrive at the trailhead.
After this, we arrived at the ridge offering a breathtaking view of Diamond Head peak, Round Mountain, Elfin lake area, etc. We hiked through this terrain for 45 minutes to an hour fully exposed to the sun. If it had been a hot day, we would have suffered a lot more.
Following the ridge, the rocky part of the trail began. If you're afraid of heights, this will test your courage. Apparently, this area had been burnt down in a forest fire so only white and skeletal trees surrounded us.
The steepest section was the last 20 minutes from the lake. We just kept looking up and took our time with this part. :) There were still some snow left near the lake.

The trail started at a hydroelectric power station 500 meters from the parking lot.
The first section of the trail was quite flat or ascended gradually through the forest. It was the most relaxing section of the trail.

This area is a huge an avalanche hazard if you decide to explore this trail during the winter.
Yay! We made it! The lake was half-covered in snow but still looked gorgeous.
It was around 23 degree Celsius by the time we got there. The lake was half-frozen but one hiker jumped straight in. He might not have enjoyed the swim so much though since he got out after a minute :)
It was a great day with perfect weather. It was a bit cloudy when we hiked up but the sky cleared out by the time we arrived at the lake. Perfect timing, eh?
See you guys on the next hike! <3
